World of Warcraft First Aid
World of Warcraft First Aid
In World of Warcraft there are dozens of ways to stay healthy and heal when needed. For the most part though, they involve time and money. However, for those that choose to take a little bit of time and level up their First Aid skill a lot of that can saved. It will reduce the amount of time you spent waiting while healing or on the money you might normally spend on healing materials.
The first step is to find a First Aid trainer and acquire the skill. After you ve done that, it s time to pick up some cloth. Cloth is an item you can commonly find on almost any humanoid enemy. It comes in numerous varieties including linen, wool and silk among others. With your First Aid skill, you can turn these cloths into bandages and apply them to anyone that needs healing. It s a fairly easy skill to acquire, level up and use, even at low levels because of how easy it is to find cloth. In fact, if you take up First Aid at a high level, it might be hard to go back and find Linen cloth. Prices on stacks of Linen cloth are thus rather high in the Auction House. Start early and you ll save money over time.
The act of applying a bandage can be a bit tricky though and isn t the most feasible action during the midst of battle. It is a channeling act, so it takes a few seconds to take full effect. Anytime during that duration, you could be interrupted or hit and lose the effects of the bandage. This basically means that you cannot bandage yourself during solo battles, so you ll still need to keep some healing materials on hand.
Additionally, after bandaging, the same target cannot be bandaged again for a minute. Basically, First Aid is best suited for speeding up downtime between battles and helping teammates who are too close to death. If you rely too heavily on bandages, you re going to find yourself running out at the wrong time and eventually dying anyways. Healing classes are still the most efficient characters for healing others. But, it s always a good idea to have a back up and First Aid is a great way to have a failsafe on hand.
The only time in which you might want to reconsider taking on First Aid is if you choose Tailoring as a Primary Profession. Because it takes so much cloth on its own, Tailoring is ultimately not well suited for tandem with First Aid as you would have to split your resources and ultimately do mediocre at both. However, most tailors tend to be Mages and Priests, both of which do not often need First Aid as they have their own healing abilities built in, so the deficiency is minimal.
